£5 vintage prime lenses
In January 2019 I decided to book a trip to India for the end of March with my two brothers & father. We set off on the 19th March from London straight to New Delhi. It’s not the first time Ive been to India so I was excited to return as it has been a good 4 years since my last visit. Once we arrived at the airport it was such a nice surprise to see that the vending machine for water was roughly 20p a bottle. I forgotten how cheap it is compared to being back at home in the UK. I gave myself a challenge to only take second hand £5 lenses that I found at a street market in London. All the lenses are vintage and some date back to the 1940’s.
New Delhi
Rooftop view from my hotel in New Delhi
Once we left the airport we found ourself a little taxi, It was such small car and how we managed to cram our bags inside as well us lads i’ll never know. It was a long hot drive with no aircon to our hotel. On the way in the car there was so much to see. I hadn’t really slept at all from when I was in London but the chaotic streets kept me awake and alert. The traffic on the roads were crazy, no rules like we have back home. It’s a free for all on the roads here. We seen cows walking on the motorway, stray dogs, little children begging for money, homeless men, tuk tug’s and more. Each yard we moved we would experience new smells in the air, the ride was so stimulating. Once we pulled up near our hotel the area looked like a scene from a post apocalyptic world. The street to how hotel was messy and looked like a bomb had hit it. Once we checked in and made it to our room, we could hear an animal in the walls, we had bird poo all around the window and the aircon wasn’t working. I had a smile on my face as I knew we was in for a right adventure. I decided to walk up the stairs to see if we had a open rooftop and I found one of the most amazing views of the outer suburbs of New Delhi.
